Great place to live, fantastic place to Study!
Newcastle is the regional capital of the North East and renowned as one of the best cities for students in the UK. A vibrant student population and a warm and friendly atmosphere make it popular with students from far and wide.
A cosmopolitan city...
Newcastle is a great place to socialise with an excellent choice from literally hundreds of quality restaurants and cafes catering for every taste. From Chinese banquets to a quick snack for lunch, or just a coffee and muffin with friends at one of the many street cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by. The choice is yours!
A party city...
Newcastle has a full programme of entertainment and events throughout the year: street parties on our famous Quayside at Christmas and New Year; the Hoppings (Europe's largest travelling fair!); music, comedy, dance, film, and Chinese and Irish festivals throughout the year, it seems there's always something going on!
A city for shopping...
Whether looking for clothes, music, electrical goods, sports gear or just browsing then Newcastle has a shop for you! The College is within easy walking distance of Eldon Square and Monument Mall and the Metro Centre (one of the largest shopping malls in Europe) is only a short journey away. Your NUS card will entitle you to discounts in many clothing shops such as Top Shop and Pilot and also record stores like HMV and Virgin Megastore. Also - not to be missed - is the Quayside street market held every Sunday. If you're looking for a bargain there are over 200 stalls selling clothes, cds, records, books and more.
A city for sport...
Sport is important in our city and we are the home to top teams such as Premiership football club Newcastle United, Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, and Newcastle Eagles Basketball Club all regularly entertaining thousands of adoring fans.
The city also hosts the Great North Run - Europe's largest participation half-marathon.
...at the heart of a great region
A small journey out of Newcastle in any direction and you are in an area rich in beauty and heritage. You can visit castles and long golden beaches, breathtaking countryside and a landscape largely unspoilt. The North East is alive with history - the legacy of the Roman Empire at Hadrian's Wall; early English Christianity at Lindisfarne and the beginnings of the industrial revolution
